Super high power Luxeon Star LED:
- This single LED is nearly as powerful as a 2 'D' cell halogen flahlight.

- Lasts 100,000 hours

- Never turns yellow as the batteries go low.

- Lasts about 8 hours at high brightness. Goes into 'moon-mode' after initial brightness, and lasts another 16 hours, giving useful, albeit less bright light.

- Uses a boost circuit to regulate voltage to the LED. Runs at about 350mA to 400mA. Brightness is about 2,000 lux at 1 meter.

Other features:
- Constructed of super tough 1/8" thick aluminum alloy. Possibly the toughest flashlight on the market.

- Anodized black

- Uses common, inexpensive 'D' cell batteries. But you can also use rechargables or lithium batteries if desired.

- Water resistant, pressure tested

- Impact resistant

This flashlight is using a super high powered, 1 watt Luxeon Star LED. This flashlight powers the LED with two D cell batteries, and is voltage regulated. It is equivalent in brightness to a stock incandescent 2 'D' cell flashlight, (or much brighter), but will last about 24 hours on a set of two batteries at high brightness. The LED will last for about 100,000 hours. It will not burn out, and will not be damaged by impact (like when it is accidentally dropped.) The flashlight retains it original water resistance.
This flashlight is a quantum leap in lighting technology, from the old, dim, yellowish, and temperamental, incandescent predecessor. By the time you have gone through 1 or 2 sets of batteries, this flashlight will pay for itself. In the many years of use to follow, you will be rewarded with a reliable light source, that will continue to save you money.
Here is a link to a web page about the revolutionary collimating optics used in this flashlight:

 Blaster 30mm collimator
Working under much the same principle as a laser collimator, it captures and focuses most of the light from the LED and focuses it to a beam that is about 6 degrees, which easily lights up objects up to 100 feet, and further.
