XM-3

Who purchased an XM-3 From Elektro Lumens
The XM-3 is built solid as a rock. I dropped some AA
alkalines in it and was very
impressed with the beam. Perfect amount of hotspot and
smooth transition to spill. I
used to carry a Mini-mag with a Ministar-2 Luxeon side
emitting 1W diode. The XM-3
engulfed the light of my mini. The XM-3 was nice and bright.
If I were to guess, it
seems more than twice as bright as my mini. It lit up a tree
nicely at least 75 feet
away on a lit street. The battery housing gives just enough
room for the batteries
minimizing rattling. The tail clicky is PERFECT! Strudy
thick rubber and easy to press.
There is plenty of room to activate momentary on without
fully clicking it to completely
on. The clip comforms very well to the flashlight. It wont
get in the way of anything
and in your hands, you wont even know its there. It's pretty
tight though and kind of
hard to clip onto a thin belt. A weaker clip would make it
easier. The lanyard is pretty
nice but the part that attaches to the light is pretty thin.
It looks strong though so,
for the moment, I dont see the line snapping anytime soon.
This is one AWESOME torch! Its bright, its extremely
durable, well balanced, perfect
beam, PERFECT CLICKY! I'm glad I bought 2 of them. One for
me and one for...well...ME!

Got mine Friday, and its an excellent light. Very stout,
the switch is perfect, smooth to operate very nice. Bright
white beam good side spill,
and the price lets you use it with no worry of damaging it.
Can't go wrong here.

Got mine today.. initial impressions.. great light for the
money. Well constructed, nice
hotspot with good sidespill, a great around the house light
at an affordable price.
Would have paid an extra 5 bucks for a glass lens, but
overall, very satisfied.
Beam is very nice, cool white. Tailswitch is well designed
as well. I like the look and
feel of this light. I will have plenty of fun playing with
it and using it.

Got mine today, good job Wayne!!!!
Sure there are brighter, more exotic light out there, but to
all those who are
dissappointed at the out put: we are talking abou a 2-AA, 40
dollar, 2-Hour Run time
light here. Sure my XO3 puts out a more intense beam, but
that's at a cost of side spill
and battery consumption(123 versus AA's). like Wayne said,
it's a compromise between
runtime and brightness, and for the type of batteries i can
use in here, no complaints
here.

Wayne, I really like my XM-3's! Yep, each of the ones I got
has a nice white beam. And
I'm very satisfied with the brightness. . . after all, it
runs on AA's, so I'm not sure
what some expected; it's simply not going to be like a T3
unless runtime is dramatically
reduced below practical limits. I'd compare it with the
Streamlight Jr. Lux in output,
but it has a larger brighter corona. The beam quality is
great, IMO. Very Surefire-like
with it's bright hotspot and dimmer but useful sidespill. In
fact the beam is very
comparable to my L5 and L6, though not as bright. Hey, for
$40 and the ability to use
AA's, that's a tradeoff I can appreciate. I haven't been
disappointed in any of your
lights so far, Wayne

Wayne, I got mine today too. I think it is just "Jim
Dandy" the way it is. I have
Brighter lights. I have smaller lights. But the thing I like
the most about is the FEEL
in my hand. Just like a Mini-Tristar Phazer. Just as cool as
my Pentalux. Its a Keeper
for sure- Not For Sale Ever. The fact that it works that
good unmodified is fine with
me. I am a EE. I suppose if you want to be clever you could
recaculate those resistors
for rechargeables and get maximum light output that way. I
for one am leaving mine the
way it is. Seems to be about equal in output to my Q-III. I
am waiting for reviews on
run time vs output.
I think it has good spill and my hot spot is just right.

I received mine today as well. This thing is built for use and abuse. Out of the many,
many lights I have in inventory, the XM-3 will move to the top as a work horse light.
My EDC is a L4 and it is 'guarded' during use from scratches and nicks. The XM-4 is
not a thumb and two finger kind of light-this is built for a fist. The $40.00 long running
economical XM-3 feels good and secure in the hand while climbing a ladder, or using tools.
I fully expect the XM-3 to gather many guilt free nicks and dings from rough use. That's
something I wouldn't
do with a SF.
Several have asked to compare it to the SL Jr. I Did. The XM-3 wins. Throw is about
the same but overall lumen output appears to be much higher from the XM-3 due to it's huge
bright side spill. Output is near SQ quality. Mine has very few artifacts. Side by side with the L4
the beam shape, hotspot, spill, etc. nearly matches. The only difference, the L4 output is
brighter and has the donut hole hot spot while the XM-3's
hotspot is solid. The color is a soft white.
Machining is good with a few tooling marks and sharp edges.
Overall the XM-3 represents an excellent value. Some say that it's not the brightest but I
believe that it is more than bright enough. There is no need
to adjust output at the expense of runtime.
Two thumbs up Wayne!!
