BEAMSHOTS

Here is a beamshot of the Oracle 3 'D' cell flashlight, modified with a Luxeon Star. I use 1 ohm resistance. Here the batteries are completely fresh. Notice the hot spot in the center of the beam. Very bright in the very center!

Here is the same flashlight, which has been on for 36 hour straight. It is noticably not as bright. I would add however, that it is still light that is quite usable. With only one ohm resistance, the light starts out brighter, and drains the batteries quicker than with 2 or 3 ohms resistance. (Duh!)

Here is a beam shot of my Rayovac Industrial Flashlight, in which I have placed 12 Nichia 5600mcd white LED's. This beamshot is with completely fresh batteries. In all fairness, it is quite bright, and very usable light. You can see how there is not the hot spot in the center like with the Luxeon Star. The light is softer, and spreads out more. It also doesn't throw as far away as the Luxeon Star does. For close up use, it is very nice. The Luxeon Star is quite a bit brighter, but at the center of the beam.
