- Flashlight is constructed of 6061 aircraft grade aluminum alloy.
- This flashlight is massive, weighing 1lb, 15oz without batteries (Most common 3D flashlights weigh around 15 oz.) That is, for a 3D size flashlight, it has a huge amount of aluminum. The head is remarkably beefy, and the bezel was designed to be robust, and to allow the flashlight to withstand a drop from at least 6 feet directly onto concrete. We took special consideration into making the bezel extra strong. A drop on the head on the edge of the bezel (the worst kind of drop) will not result in the flashlight's destruction.

- The name PhlatLight is derived from Photonic Lattice. Photonic
lattice technology creates true surface emission from the
source, which enables large area LED chips with uniform
brightness over the entire LED chip surface.
- Thermal management is critical in high power LED applications.
With a thermal resistance from junction to case of 0.64°C/W,
PhlatLight SST-90 devices have the lowest thermal resistance
of any LED on the market. This allows the LED to be driven at
higher current densities while maintaining a low junction
temperature, thereby resulting in brighter and longer
lifetimes.

Designed from the ground up, PhlatLight LEDs are one of the
most
reliable light sources in the world today. PhlatLight LEDs
have
passed a rigorous suite of environmental and mechanical stress
tests, including mechanical shock, vibration, temperature
cycling
and humidity, and have been fully qualified for use in extreme

- The LED is mounted on a huge solid copper heat sink, which is set into the flashlight body. Sure, adds a lot of weight, but helps to insure the LED junction temperature stays low, resulting in higher brightness, and longer LED life.
- Custom 35mm ultra clear collimator
Using this custom made 35mm collimator, nearly all the emmitted light is focused into a 10 degree beam, with very little side spill light. The beam is perfectly smooth and even, with no defects or irregularities, making this beam amazingly bright, over 13,000 lux reading at 1 meter! Incredible!!

- Uses 3 comon size D batteries, rechargable NIMH batteries are required for maximum brightness. Alkaline D cells will work, but flashlight will be less bright.
How much value can you place on your personal safety? Out for a walk at night? Someone approachs you? What are their intentions. Shine a bright light towards them, they cannot see you, giving you the time you need to pull out your AK-47 or M-16. (The following is an opinion may not be true)But in many instances, since you have already reduced them to a pile of smoldering ashes, the lessor power hot gas discharge weapons may not be needed.
LEO use: Many LEO (Law Enforcement Officer) have contacted Elektro Lumens telling us how useful the Elektro Lumens flashlight they have purchased has been in their line of work. It has stopped fights, diffused potentially violent situations, incapacitated people with dilated pupils (many drugs dilate the pupil of the eye). When an intense bright light is shined on a person, and they cannot see you, being barely able to open their eyes in your direction, giving you the advantage.
